LIVING SPRING COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION, OSOGBO
REPORT OF GOVERNING COUNCIL MEETING ON 6TH SEPTEMBER, 2014 AT THE CONFERENCE HALL, AJEWOLE CAMPUS, OSOGBO.
INTRODUCTION
The Governing Council meeting had in attendance five members: Chairman (Mr. Kehinde Abiola), (Prof. Adagunodo, Prof. Olabode Dr. Fasogbon, Dr. Abdul-Hameed Taofeeq and Mrs Omotayo Abiola). Others are the Institution Rector (Alhaji Akibu I.A.) Bursar (Mr. Ariremako Peter) and the Registrar/ Secretary (Mr. Ajibade S.O).
Rector’s Report.
The Rector’s report reminded the sitting of the birth of LISCOTECH in 2009, the organisation structure which include Schools & Department, Programme implementation, the outcome of effective programme implementation, Affiliation with external bodies, management of Private Innovative Enterprise, Survival Strategy and major challenges.
Chairman responded that the institution had good relationship with neighbouring Institutions, both Universities and Polytechnics, for purpose of admission of LISCOTECH graduates who wish to further their studies; likewise the college is set to bring in professional Examination bodies such as CISCO IDPM etc. Also, staff is promised to be motivated by providing Five Hundred Thousand Naira into the Staff Cooperative Society account to boost their lending capacity and to be motivated more from different angles due to the progressive effort exhibited by them,
Professor Olabode commented that entrepreneurship and ICT programmes added to the School Curriculum are positive steps towards the right direction to have good standard for the Institution is graduates.
Professor Adagunodo congratulated the Management for effective running of the school activities. And also he accepted the Use of English Language which is the barrier to all students in every tertiary Institutions nowadays, as well as college News Letter which is produced annually
Registrar’s Report
Registrar’s report covers permission to operate under Osun State Government, Osogbo, Corporate Affairs Commission office, Federal Ministry of Education. Accreditation (which brought confirmation of department profile of Annual student in-take) Matriculation, Academic Achievements, Affiliation with other institutions and challenges.
The members commented that the management of institution has done great job in making sure that the intention of establishing the school is not jeopardised, and encourage them to do more.
Bursar’s Report
Bursar’s report includes student fees, financial management of private enterprise, ill-equipped library and panacea for financial predicament.
Professor Adagunodo encouraged the institution to have a working budget analysis so that the parameter used in the budget has to be constant.
Chairman Update
The Chairman also briefed the sitting on the present situation of the Institutions permanent site at Oogi and the accommodation for student hostel.
He also emphasised the need for the members of Governing Council to help the college in getting convenient figures for admission list and Mrs. Abiola agreed to help.
He informed them of the inclusion of empowerment into the academic programme which have helped a lot to improve the quality of students.
He also mentioned the introduction of the writing of plan of work and report by staff to monitor quality control
Project Inspection
Practical Projects produced by the School of Science and Engineering students were inspected by the members of Governing Council and they were astonished at the standard of the projects.
Conclusion
The members of Governing Council praised the Management of LISCOTECH for effective running of the activities of the Institution and encourages them to still put mot efforts.
